SP characteristics

Biomedical Informatics is a modern, interdisciplinary, and continuously evolving field. This field is part of the master's program in Medicine and Dentistry, bachelor's programs, postgraduate studies in non-medical fields at medical faculties, as well as biomedical-oriented study programs at the Czech Technical University. It encompasses areas of clinical medicine (such as clinical calculations, image analysis, biosignal issues, computer modeling, artificial intelligence, decision support, statistics and biometry issues, medical classification, computers in device control, robotics, and artificial organs), information systems (their implementation, data protection issues, creation of hospital information systems), and theoretical medicine (modeling physiological functions and issues of bioinformatics).<br>The study program is one of the so-called applied informatics. In the foundational part, it corresponds to informatics at other faculties, and in the specialized part, it is entirely specific to biomedicine. This study is followed by habilitation and appointment procedures in the field of Medical Informatics conducted at the First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University.

Graduate profile for the public:
The graduate of the doctoral study program in Biomedical Informatics has acquired theoretical knowledge in the field of information science, system science – particularly in the areas of image analysis, analysis of biological signals, information systems, mathematical models, and biostatistics. These insights can be applied in both practical applications and research in areas such as eHealth, medical imaging, telemedicine, design and analysis of clinical studies, bioinformatics, optimization of healthcare processes and devices, and healthcare economics.
