SP characteristics

Doctoral study program (DSP) Preventive Medicine is made up of a complex of scientific fields operating in the areas of primary and secondary prevention and primary and secondary health care. Scientific fields include hygiene (health protection and promotion), epidemiology, health psychology, practical medicine, pediatrics and public health. Health protection is focused on assessing the health risks of contamination of the living and working environment by biological, physical, and chemical factors, (including assessment of susceptibility to these factors) and to suggestions for effective interventions. Health promotion is focused on assessing the health risks of lifestyle factors and wider social contexts (nutritional habits, physical activity, self-harming habits, and psychological and sociological ties) and on proposals for effective interventions. Epidemiology (infectious and non-infectious diseases) deals with the study of factors affecting the health and morbidity of the population, and its outputs serve as a basis for justifying medical interventions carried out in the interest of public health and preventive medicine (it enables the recognition of risk factors for the emergence, development and transmission of diseases and determines the optimal procedure of their treatment in clinical practice). Health psychology examines the regularities of the influence of psychological dispositions, functions and processes on human health, the emergence and development of diseases and the possibilities of their therapy, rehabilitation, and prevention. It focuses on the systematic application of psychological knowledge to the field of health and illness and to the health care system. Practical medicine is a basic field that provides medical and preventive care for the adult population, possibly also for children and adolescents. It includes the basic knowledge and practice of various medical fields, which it applies in preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic, rehabilitation and assessment activities. Pediatrics comprehensively evaluates the outputs of preclinical biomedical fields (physiology, pathophysiology, and pharmacology) and clinical fields (neonatology, endocrinology, cardiology, gastroenterology, oncology and hematology, pulmonology, allergology, and nephrology) that participate in multidisciplinary childcare. The field is oriented towards solving topics from the field of preclinical and clinical practice. Public healthcare is focused on the methods and conditions of the implementation of primary and secondary care in accordance with current and future legislation. It deals with population health, studies health systems and health services that are provided to the population (starting with health policies, methods of financing, availability of care to evaluation of the quality and effectiveness of the care provided).
