Doctoral studies cover general subjects and skills required for scientific research work and critical thinking as well as specialised studies on ophthalmology with respect on all subspecialisations of this subject. Student will gain detailed knowledge of all aspect in ophthalmology as well as practical skills from the lessons at the clinic. Doctoral studies also include basic knowledge of preclinical research in ophthalmology. Standard length of study is 4 years, study is concluded by defending of the thesis, absolvent is awarded the title „Ph.D.“.

The graduate of DSP Ophthalmology is a highly qualified expert who is versatile for further work at an academia or research as well as in clinical praxis. S/he has a detailed knowledge of ophthalmology in the whole spectrum. S/he has acquired the skills in diagnostics method and principles as well as in therapeutic (both conservative and surgical) approaches. S/he can independently and critically evaluate new findings in accordance with evidence-based principles of medicine, propose a scientific experiment to solve scientific questions of a biochemical nature, prepare a grant application for research support, manage a small team, interpret, discuss and present the results of the scientific work.
