Aims of Doctoral Study Programme Medical Immunology is to prepare graduates of masters study programmes of General Medicine, Dentistry and/or other biomedically oriented master programmes of other universities for scientific work oriented on the investigation of immune system as a substantial part of both protective and immunopathological inflammatory response. Doctoral study programme is individual reflecting the differences in the master study programmes of applicants of the particular applicant. Study comprises the substrate of the immune response on the molecular and cellular levels. The special emphasise is given to the relationships between immunity and other body systems in context of their individual characteristics and an environmental variables. The study is multidisciplinary integrating various preclinical and clinical objectives of research. The integrating axis of doctoral study is the protective and immunopathological inflammation. Graduate of this study is able to identify the objectives of research, to select optimal methods of analysis which are efficient enough to bring the original data, to analyse data statistically, and to interpret these data in the context of results of the other authors. The final results of doctoral study are lectures, posters and publications in high quality journals including journals with impact factor and in other forms.
Doctoral study is for 4 years both in presention or combined forms. Doctoral study is finished passing the final State Doctoral Examination and doctoral thesis defence.

Graduate profile for the public:
The graduate of the Doctoral Study Programme in Medical Immunology is a highly qualified expert who is versatile for the subsequent unassisted work in both academic and applied research fields with the special respect to the biomedicine. The graduate gained the detailed knowledge of molecular and cellular substrate of protective and immunopathological inflammatory response. This knowledge is able to put into the context of both medical and immunobiological activities. Graduate earns the whole spectrum of both basic and advanced methods which are essential to perform the most challenging scientific aims in biomedicine with the special respect to medical immunology. This knowledge is actively applied in the research aiming both laboratory and clinical experiments. Graduate is able to identify the most perspective research objectives in which there are the most likely possibility to gain the original results aiming the better understanding of the function of the immune system in both protective and immunopathological inflammatory response with the potential of application in clinical and laboratory practice. Graduate is able to select and perform the optimal spectrum of research methods to rich the goals of research. Graduate is able to analyse obtained data using advanced statistical methods and to compare the results with already published data in context of evidence-based medicine. Graduate is able to publish results using various means especially in the form of full-paper publications in journals with impact factor, oral presentations and patent application. Graduate is ready to apply for the research project formulating research proposal. Graduate is prepared for the team multidisciplinary work.
