Study programmes

A graduate of DSP Surgery is a highly qualified expert who is versatile for further work at an academia or research with a biomedical focus. S/he has a detailed knowledge of general surgery, traumatology, vascular surgery, plastic and esthetic surgery, thoracic surgery, cardiosurgery, orthopaedics, neurosurgery, otho-rhino laryngology and anaesthesiology according to own individual specialization and with focusing on the research project. This knowledge is applied during research work in a frame of resolution of clinical and experimental projects. S/he has acquired the skills and methodology used in biomedical research in both types of experiments and is able to plan and realize various types of a scientific project, analytic methods for evaluation results, operating techniques in human medicine as in experiment on laboratory animals (mice, rat, rabbit, pig ). S/he can independently and critically evaluate the new findings in accordance with evidence-based principles of medicine, propose a scientific experiment to solve scientific questions of the surgical disciplines. S/he critically assess new findings in accordance with principles of evidence-based medicine and is able to: elaborate review of literature, judge scientometrics, design a research project, prepare methodical plan and timetable of research works, manage small team of scientists, and organize co-operations, discuss results, and present them in a form of lecture or article in Czech and English language. The graduate is also capable of preparation of grant proposal. All acquired skills enable the graduates of Surgery DSP employment in academic and research institutions with a biomedical focus or in a state or commercial subjects oriented to drug development, and drug clinical usage.
