SP characteristics

On the basis of a permit from the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, the graduate is prepared to exercise the regulated profession of social worker according to Act No. 108/2006 Coll., on Social Services, as amended.
He/she is able to contribute to solving problems arising in the interaction between people and their social environment, to help to promote social changes, to support emancipation of human being and their social inclusion.
The graduate has the knowledge of theological sources, historical tradition and values of Christian social and charity work, knows basic concepts and methods of pastoral care and is able to use them in his/her work.
He/she is able to provide spiritual assistance to others and help their personal and spiritual development in accordance with his/her own and their spiritual grounding.
He/she upholds the values of responsibility, freedom, justice, dignity of the human person, trust, hope, love and compassionate service to neighbour, helpfulness, patience, participation and collegiality.

The graduate critically reflects on current social reality using the knowledge of social sciences;
appropriately uses methods in social research and understands the contribution of research to improving practice;
Interprets texts using the results of expert domestic and international scholarly debate;
critically reflects on professional practice and uses sources of personal support;
views moral issues using knowledge of ethical theories;
Understands people holistically; understands the needs of people in their uniqueness; assesses their life and social situations, their resources and opportunities, difficulties, causes and consequences of these difficulties and ways to overcome them;
cares for relationships;
applies methods of social/pastoral work to the specific situation of a person, family, community in a spirit of solidarity and subsidiarity;
knows how to work together in diverse teams;
assesses the possibility of applying a theory of social change to a specific social setting or social situation;
is familiar with the Czech legal system and negotiates with courts and public administration;
views life issues from a spiritual and Christian perspective;
can accompany a person pastorally with respect for his/her own spiritual journey;
is with people in situations of need and listens to them.
