The continuing Master's program Social and Charity Work is an extension of the Bachelor program. It aims primarily at providing complex education in the field of social and charity work. The combination of theoretical knowledge and practical skills intends to qualify the graduate for the employment of a social worker, who will be able to carry out his tasks responsibly, independently and professionally. Besides the further study of social and charity work, students of this program are also provided with tools of the trade, knowledge and practical skills in the field of charity and theology of service. The Master's program is rooted in a broad interdisciplinary background, represented with a group of subjects concerning social work, counselling and advanced methods of social work. The contents of these subjects are flexible, as they are oriented towards rapid development of the discipline and the needs of modern globalized society. This gives the graduate a broad range of possibilities of employment in state, private and church social institutions. The Master's program meets the requirements of the Minimal Standards of Education in Social Work as well as the specific requirements for education in the field of social work adopted by the Association of Educators in Social Work (ASVSP). It is in compliance with the Government Order No. 275/2016 on the catalogue of works and the Directive of European Union EU 2005/36/ES according to the code of regulated unit 655 and the legal regulation of the law No. 108/2006 Sb. on social care. In accordance with the statement of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, the graduate is ready to exercise the regulated profession of social worker according to Act No.108/2006 Coll., on Social Services as amended.

In the course of study, the graduate of the Master's program Social and Charity Work acquires theoretical knowledge of subjects related to humanities and applied sciences (Social Ethics, Economy, Theory of Social Counselling, Social Administration, Psychopathology, Social Gerontology and Geriatrics etc.), professional skills in the field of applied theology and social work (Theory of Charity, Theology and Social Work, Current Issues of Charity Work), as well as competencies for independent performance of a regulated occupation (Social Research, Practice and Supervision, Advanced Field, Crisis and Community Methods and Programs, Pastoral Care with Delinquents and Their Families etc.). The graduate is fully qualified to perform highly specialized activities in the field of sociolegal support of clients, provide special forms of social contacts, coordinate sociolegal support in direct contact with clients in a socially disadvantageous situation, support clients´ adaptation, skills or re-establishing their social functions, coordinate and perform specialized activities in the field of social work, solve sociolegal and sociomedical issues of clients in social care centres, do the research, and lead a team. Zásada rovného přístupu a rovných příležitostí ke studiu poskytuje uchazečům o studium a studentům informační, poradenské a podpůrné služby související se studiem. Vyrovnávání příležitostí studovat na vysoké škole pro studenty se specifickými potřebami vnímá HTF UK jako důležitou součást své společenské odpovědnosti. Specificky (SZŘ UK a vnitřní předpisy HTF) jsou upraveny podmínky pro studium v průběhu uznané doby rodičovství, studium studentů se specifickými potřebami a studium sportovních reprezentantů.
