Study programmes

In the course of study, the graduate of the Master's program Social and Charity Work acquires theoretical knowledge of subjects related to humanities and applied sciences (Social Ethics, Economy, Theory of Social Counselling, Social Administration, Psychopathology, Social Gerontology and Geriatrics etc.), professional skills in the field of applied theology and social work (Theory of Charity, Theology and Social Work, Current Issues of Charity Work), as well as competencies for independent performance of a regulated occupation (Social Research, Practice and Supervision, Advanced Field, Crisis and Community Methods and Programs, Pastoral Care with Delinquents and Their Families etc.). The graduate is fully qualified to perform highly specialized activities in the field of sociolegal support of clients, provide special forms of social contacts, coordinate sociolegal support in direct contact with clients in a socially disadvantageous situation, support clients´ adaptation, skills or re-establishing their social functions, coordinate and perform specialized activities in the field of social work, solve sociolegal and sociomedical issues of clients in social care centres, do the research, and lead a team. The profile of the graduate meets the requirements of the Minimal Standards of Education in Social Work as well as the specific requirements for education in the field of social work adopted by the Association of Educators in Social Work (ASVSP). It is in compliance with the Government Order No. 275/2016 on the catalogue of works and the Directive of European Union EU 2005/36/ES according to the code of regulated unit 655 and the legal regulation of the law No. 108/2006 Sb. on social care. In accordance with the statement of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, the graduate is ready to exercise the regulated profession of social worker according to Act No.108/2006 Coll., on Social Services as amended.
