SP characteristics

The Bachelor program Social and Charity Work aims primarily at providing complex education in the field of social and charity work. Besides the general study of the academic discipline, students of this program are additionally provided with fundamental theological education, thus being qualified and skilled to work in church institutions, which are complementary to the state system of social care and can often offer different approaches and services to clients than state institutions. The study program meets the requirements of the Minimal Standards of Education in Social Work as well as the specific requirements for education in the field of social work adopted by the Association of Educators in Social Work (ASVSP). It is in compliance with the Government Order No. 275/2016 on the catalogue of works and the Directive of the European Parliament EU 2005/36/ES according to the code of regulated unit 655 and the legal regulation of the law No. 108/2006 Sb. on social care. In accordance with the statement of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, the graduate is ready to exercise the regulated profession of social worker according to Act No.108/2006 Coll., on Social Services as amended.

In the course of study, the graduate of the Bachelor program Social and Charity Work gains both theoretical knowledge in the field of social work, which primarily includes humanities and applied social sciences (Social and Charity Work, Sociology, Social Policy, Activities of the Social State, Social Security, Vulnerable Groups and Risk Behaviour, Psychology, Law, Methods of Social Work, Somatology and Somatopathology, etc.), and professional skills in applied subjects in the field of theology and social work (Theory of Charity, Roots of Christian Thought and Belief, Pastoral Counselling, Theology of Service) as well as competencies for independent performance of a regulated occupation (Methods and Techniques of Social Research, Practice and Supervision, Social Diagnostics etc.). The graduate is prepared to provide and coordinate social services, deal with administration, make contacts with clients, provide counselling services, administer appropriate agendas, identify sociolegal problems of a particular community or area, perform services of re-socialization, cooperate with social institutions or lead a team of social workers. The graduate is qualified to pursue the continuing Master program Social and Charity Work. The professional profile of the graduate meets the requirements of the Minimal Standards of Education in Social Work as well as the specific requirements for education in the field of social work adopted by the Association of Educators in Social Work (ASVSP). Zásada rovného přístupu a rovných příležitostí ke studiu poskytuje uchazečům o studium a studentům informační, poradenské a podpůrné služby související se studiem. Vyrovnávání příležitostí studovat na vysoké škole pro studenty se specifickými potřebami vnímá HTF UK jako důležitou součást své společenské odpovědnosti. Specificky (SZŘ UK a vnitřní předpisy HTF) jsou upraveny podmínky pro studium v průběhu uznané doby rodičovství, studium studentů se specifickými potřebami a studium sportovních reprezentantů. Fakulta umožňuje bezbarierový přístup.
