The standard duration of the study is 2 years in the full-time form of studies or in the combined form of studies. The programme is focused academically. After successful completion of the studies, the Master (Mgr.) degree is awarded.
The study programme is above all intended for graduates of the Bachelor degree studies in addictology, who are encouraged to boost the skills that are relevant for the desired specialty “clinical addictologist”. The previous output of evaluation of the study programme indicates that it is a very suitable sequel of Bachelor studies for those who are interested in independent clinical practice, or in taking a post in administration beyond the clinical practice, or consider research activity. Also interested in the study programme are applicants who seek or have a job in police services and penitentiary service, officials, or graduates in other Bachelor study fields (art therapy, psychology, but also medicine) who choose the field because of their strong individual interest in the issue or in the strong line of clinical work.

Graduate profile for the public:
Graduates of the master's degree program in addictology have extended theoretical and practical training for the prevention, counseling and therapy as a part of the treatment and social reintegration of disorders caused by substance abuse and non-substance addictive behavior. Part of the graduate's skills are the independent management of basic medical addictological procedures and practical skills in the field of prevention, addictology therapy and case management, including a broadened scope of work in public administration and service management. They master the basics of scientific work, and apply acquired knowledge, skills and competencies to practice.
The study program does not correspond to any other of the education programs of specialized education set in accordance with the regulation no. 31/2010 Coll. on the fields of specialized education and designation of specialized expertise of health care workers with specialized eligibility.
