SP characteristics

The concept of the programme comes from the premise that number of graduates may start their work practice right after their graduation, whilst others may continue with their follow-up master study of pedagogy. Therefore, this programmes’ curriculum contains both subjects that allow the first group to acquire knowledge and skills enabling them to find their use as educators and leisure-time teachers, as well as subjects that lay foundation for the other group’s follow-up master studies. In the course of the bachelor study teamwork skills are developed, at the same time specific professional traits of character are shaped via the contents as well as applied methods, in particular self-regulation, healthy self-confidence, self-knowledge and empathy. The important part of the study programme is practice. Students are progressively familiarized with real conditions of basic professions they are prepared for in the course of their studies (both bachelor and master) using collective in-class observations. As part of their practice students sit in classes of various schools, educational facilities, learn how to analyse and evaluate internal and external factors which influence their activities. One of the most substantial features of the bachelor study programme is the focus on active, individual and team activities of students.

The focus in the study programme is also on systematic work with Czech and international scholarly texts and on regularly checked reading lists of literature on education and social sciences. The teaching practice enables students the opportunity to experience various school and out-of-school facilities and other facilities which provide social services.

Graduate profile for the public:
Graduates of the bachelor study of pedagogy acquire knowledge and skills of both general as well as specifically professional nature; above all they are able to apply knowledge of educational disciplines in real pedagogical situations: to plan, put into practice and evaluate leisure-time education, to participate in children and youth school education under the leadership of an expert teacher, to apply adequate forms of communication while in interaction with both children and adults. Furthermore, graduates can apply and adequately propagate principles of healthy lifestyle and prevention of risk behaviour both in their professional and private life. Graduates can utilize the bases of general university education in the lifelong cultivation of their personalities and during their educational work with various types of clients.

In depth orientation on social education will enable graduates to work in social services, mainly in the field of primary and secondary prevention. The focus on work with scholarly literature and academic writing will empower the graduates to succeed in a follow up Master´s programme.
