SP characteristics

The study program covers all aspects of plasma physics and with extensions to theoretical physics (elementary processes) and to some topics of astrophysics (interplanetary space plasma, dust / ice cloud problems in the solar system) and nuclear fusion. Studies include also borderline disciplines such as plasma chemistry, plasma interaction with solid surface and complex plasma. The program prepares professionals with a broad foundation in mathematics, physics, and computer modeling of physical processes and with deep knowledge of plasma physics.

Graduate profile for the public:
The graduate acquires deep theoretical knowledge in plasma physics and its diagnostic methods, and uses acquired skills to solve the current scientific and technological challenges in this scientific field. He benefits from the knowledge of the mathematical description of the phenomena and its numerical solution, which he applies to the studied problem. He can evaluate and interpret experimental results correctly and compares them with model outputs. He independently solves complex research problems, develops new, more effective ways to investigate them, analyzes data, and critically evaluates the positives and the limits of the results. He makes a clear presentation within a foreign forum, writes scientific publications and projects, objectively assesses and evaluates the work of other authors. He can also present his knowledge to the public auditorium in the form of presentations, written texts, and media outputs. He is ready to join international teams and to work in world laboratories. The graduate finds employment in pedagogical and scientific positions at domestic and foreign universities, scientific institutes, research and technology centers (ELI, ITER, ESA), and other workplaces dealing with plasma physics, fusion, space research, or plasma technology. In the non-academic sphere, he works at the R&D of industrial enterprises and also in narrowly specialized firms.
