SP characteristics

The study programme TEMA+ European societies: heritage and development is an innovated project of the bilingual degree EMJMD Territoires européens (civilisation, nation, région, ville): identité et développement / European Territories (Civilisation, Nation, Region, City): Identity and Development. Approved by the EACEA, this Master’s programme is offered by a consortium of four European and one Canadian universities, headed by a coordinator, the Eötvös Lorand University in Budapest. The aim of the two-year programme is to provide students with expertise, methodological tools and practical skills for the analysis of political use and scientific representation of territorial units (civilization, nation, region and city), drawing on the representation of history and cultural heritage in transdisciplinary, transnational and comparative perspectives.

This is a two-year programme (120 ECTS), consisting of four one-semester modules at five universities. The mobility within the consortium is compulsory for the students. Ideally, the programme will newly start with a semester in Budapest, recommended to all students, with a view to building a cooperating team. In semesters 2 – 4, study will continue at 1 – 2 partner universities based on the topic of the diploma thesis. The mobility model will be modified, if need be, to suit the needs of the consortium members and students. The programme places great emphasis on developing and improving research skills and their practical application. The ELTE, Laval and Catania offer a special programme with no optional courses. At the EHESS, students choose from a range of 47 courses, in addition to studying the core subjects. Examples of optional courses are provided below.
