SP characteristics
Medical chemistry is a discipline at the interface of chemistry and pharmacology dealing with the design, preparation and development of pharmaceuticals. It includes the identification, synthesis and development of new chemical substances suitable for therapeutic and diagnostic use, and the study of the biological properties of already known substances in terms of the relationship between their chemical structure and biological function. Students from this field of study must be prepared theoretically and practically in a wide range of disciplines, from the point of view of their research focus, including the quantitative study of biological systems. Students' specialization is assisted by a wide selection of profile subjects, recommended optional subjects and also a scientific project realized within the scope of the diploma thesis.
