SP characteristics

Medical chemistry is a discipline at the interface of chemistry and pharmacology dealing with the design, preparation and development of pharmaceuticals. The bachelor study program is focused on the education of experts with theoretical and practical knowledge from all areas of chemistry with an emphasis on the study and understanding of chemical processes taking place in the human organism and their influence on the pharmacists. To acquire practical experience, the teaching of the main areas of chemistry is accompanied by the passing of relevant laboratory exercises.

Graduate profile for the public:
The graduate has a comprehensive knowledge of chemistry, mathematics, cell biology, human physiology, microbiology, immunology, pharmacology and spectral methods used for the characterization of organic compounds. The graduate has an overview of chemical mechanisms of the life processes in human body, their influencing by drugs, and a detailed knowledge of techniques allowing to monitor living organisms after the pharmacological intervention. The graduate is well-prepared for master degree studies as well as for the employment in chemical and pharmaceutical laboratories of basic and applied research, in government departments or in private companies providing chemicals, pharmaceutical products and laboratory materials.
