SP characteristics
The focus of the Geotechnology study program is the application of geotechnical, hydrogeological and geophysical methods in the search and utilization of water and mineral resources and geothermal energy, in the analysis of environmental factors and the reduction of their risks (landslides and other slope movements, floods, radon risk, etc.), which, among others, may be related to global climate change.
Students acquire basic theoretical knowledge and practical experience of natural sciences and basic geological disciplines. At the same time they gain knowledge of geotechnics, hydrogeology and geophysical methods and their application in geological research, in demanding construction activities (construction of line, water and underground constructions, industrial and residential buildings - highways, dams, tunnels, landfills, mining activities etc.), mineral extraction and other environmental impacts of human activities. An integral part of the preparation is the use of renewable and non-renewable natural resources and problems of pollution and migration of substances in the environment.

Graduate profile for the public:
The graduate will be trained in interdisciplinary knowledge of science and technology disciplines and basic knowledge of information technologies with the added value of the view of a geologist who perceives the problems from a geological age point of view. He will be able to use modern equipment for laboratory work and field research, including a complete set of geophysical methods. Selection of bachelor thesis topics and the final state exam are adapted to this graduate profile. The exam will, in addition to the defense of the bachelor thesis, verify the achieved knowledge of the students in the main profile subjects of this field of study which is hydrogeology, engineering geology and applied geophysics.
