SP characteristics
The study program in Political and Regional Geography focuses on the study of political processes in the context of their relationships with economic, cultural and environmental processes within individual countries, macro-regions and globally. The spatial (geographic) perspective emphasizes the multiple ties and combinations of political processes with natural (physical-geographic), socio-economic and cultural processes at different geographic scales (local, regional, national, international) that result in spatial differentiation and uneven development. Students are trained in advanced quantitative and qualitative research methods and their application for the analysis of political processes in the context of individual regions. Individual classes develop theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in sub-disciplines of political and regional geography. Students develop a strong understanding of the principles and operation of the inter-state system. At the same time, they develop a strong understanding of individual world regions. Students graduate after successfully defending a master thesis and passing through the state examination.
