SP characteristics
This program represents an interdisciplinary field, which should bring together researchers from both humanities as well as sciences. Students are encouraged to examine broad spectrum of topics raging from conventional medical history (history of medical institutions, cultural and social history of medicine, history of medical law etc.) to scientific themes including for example paleogenetics, paleomicrobiology, archeology of medicine and others. We emphasize interdisciplinary nature of the program – students pursuing research topics from humanities should engage with colleagues investigating themes from natural sciences.
