The General Medicine study program is taught in integrated block units where both theoretical and clinical subjects are presented so that their interrelationships are emphasized. This way students gradually acquire all theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary for their medical career. Practical skills training is provided in the form of simulation teaching and in the form of clerkships in health care facilities. The program also presents ethical problems specific for healthcare and their possible solutions, practicing specific communication skills, palliative medicine, public health issues and health law issues. An integral part of the teaching is also preventive medicine. If interested, students can take part in teaching at foreign medical faculties or medical facilities.

Graduate profile for the public:
The General Medicine study program prepares students for practicing medicine in various medical facilities, teaching medical students and working in research as well as working in public health protection (hygiene services) and in governmental and public health administration. The graduates of the study program obtain knowledge fulfiling the requirements necessary for the medical practice in the EU countries.

Podpora je studentům na Univerzitě poskytována v souladu s Opatřením rektora č. 23/2017 Standardy podpory poskytované studentům a uchazečům o studium se speciálními potřebami na Univerzitě Karlově. 3. lékařská fakulta poskytuje uchazečům a studentům se speciálními potřebami modifikaci přijímacího řízení a studijních podmínek za účelem úspěšného průběhu studia a to tehdy, je-li jako student se speciálními potřebami zaregistrován. Služby jsou poskytovány všem studentům, kteří prošli tzv. funkční diagnostikou.
Pokud student chce využívat služeb či mít nárok na modifikaci studia, musí se na naší fakultě evidovat jako student se speciálními potřebami. V přípravě na budoucí povolání ve zdravotnictví jsme schopni ve spolupráci s Centrem Carolina pomoci zejména v těchto oblastech:zprostředkování asistence při studiu, digitalizace studijních materiálů,zapůjčení technických a kompenzačních pomůcek (např. fonendoskop při poruše sluchu, digitální lupa pro slabozraké),přepisovatelské služby (pro studenty s poruchou sluchu),časová kompenzace (např. navýšení času při testech),poradenství a pomoc při řešení individuálních studijních záležitostí.
