The aim of the study of Geography and Cartography is to educate specialists with knowledge of processes in the natural and socio-economic spheres and with understanding their mutual relations. The study program places great emphasis on practical exercises, excursions, field practice and the use of modern methods for acquiring practical skills and competences. The bachelor study of Geography and Cartography requires a broader educational base, ability of logical and spatial thinking and precondition for teamwork and fieldwork. The curriculum includes, as a compulsory basis, courses in physical geography profiled into four sub-disciplines covering the physical domains of the landscape, as well as social, political and economic geography and regional development and cartography and geoinformatics. The plan enables students first have to pass a broad geographical basis and during the second and third years in the form of a wide range of compulsory elective and elective courses, specialized seminars and field exercises can gradually focus their own specialisation resulting in the topic of the bachelor thesis.
