Study programmes

Area Studies is an interdisciplinary program with a strong background in modern history as a basis for understanding the basic context of the contemporary world. The program covers the northern hemisphere with a focus on North America, Europe and Eurasia and takes into account developments in Southeast Asia, Latin America, the Pacific region and the Mediterranean. It follows the events from the 19th century to the present with an emphasis on the post-1945 period with the chronological point of view. In the form of a comprehensive study of the above-mentioned territories, in distant form there is already a well-established form of two specializations, including orientation on contemporary history and on the development from the end of the Cold War to the present.
