In order to achieve the goal of educating professionals in a complex spectrum of biological disciplines, the program focuses on patterns of origin and evolution of living matter, its existence and interactions at molecular and biochemical, cellular, organismal, and population levels. Students acquire both theoretical and methodological training in a range of experimental and systematic-ecological biological disciplines, enabling them to succeed in state administration, public-service sector, and private companies, but also to specialize in any of the narrowly focused biological sciences through further study in the following biologically oriented master’s study program.

Graduate profile for the public:
The BSc. curriculum "Biology" provides a comprehensive education in biology. The graduate receives an extensive experience of both laboratory and field biology. Her/his broad-based but thorough biological education provides a solid foundation for continuation in any of the large variety of offered MSc. curricula focused on any biological field. The curriculum also provides the diplomate with the necessary skills for job positions in laboratories and institutes of both basic and applied biological, biomedical, and pharmaceutical research. Moreover, the graduates have a solid perspective in state administration (conservation issues, biological monitoring), natural history museums, botanical and zoological gardens etc.
