SP characteristics

ENG:
The study program provides students with advanced theoretical and practical knowledge in the broad field of experimental plant biology, including plant molecular and cell biology, plant molecular genetics, developmental biology, plant anatomy and physiology, and plant ecological physiology. All areas of the field are aimed at studying the structure and life processes of plant cells and plants: their structure, function, metabolism, ontogeny and interactions with the environment. Students acquire practical experience in advanced methodological approaches of experimental plant biology, such as anatomical, physiological, molecular, microscopic, biochemical, biophysical and bioinformatic methods, as well as in their application to solve current problems in biological sciences and interdisciplinary studies. The program includes the acquisition of standard methods of scientific research in plant molecular biology, plant physiology and anatomy, and plant ecological physiology. The aim of the study is also to create conditions for student participation in international scientific collaboration and for acquisition of necessary communication and professional skills, especially in the form of scientific meetings and internships at foreign research institutions.

Graduate profile for the public:
The graduate has deep theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the broad field of experimental plant biology, focused on the study of structure and life processes of plant cells and plants: their structure, metabolism, ontogeny, and interaction with the environment.
They are also a specialist in the area of experimental plant biology which was the focus of their doctoral studies, and they are familiar with modern methods in the field, especially anatomical, physiological, and molecular ones. They have become a distinctive scientific personality, who can apply the acquired knowledge and skills and is capable of creative thinking to solve complex scientific problems. Emphasis is placed on developing the ability to work in an international team and establish international contacts in the professional community. The graduate can be employed in scientific institutes, universities, state institutions, and in the private sector. The graduate is focused on scientific work in basic and applied research in the field of experimental plant biology. They can also be employed in practically oriented fields such as agronomy, agrochemistry, horticulture, breeding, forestry, phytopathology, plant biotechnology, ecology, and environmental protection. They can employ their experience with microscopic, biochemical, and molecular methods, as well as their general knowledge in other biological fields, in both commercial and state institutions.
