SP characteristics

The study program Ecology recognizes ecology as a biological discipline dealing with relationships between individuals, populations and communities, regardless of the systematic division of disciplines. It emphasizes the interconnection and integration of different disciplines, while the expertise of the members of the study program board, teachers and advisors guarantees scientific excellence. The study program responds to the demand for widely ecologically educated graduates, capable of not only cutting-edge scientific work, but also capable of responding to the practical needs of nature conservation and natural resource management based on their theoretical background. It also responds to the growing demand for student participation in international scientific life: the need for their contact with analogous research abroad through long-term internships, the presentation of research at international conferences and the need for publications in international impacted journals.

Graduate profile for the public:
Graduates will gain a wider theoretical background in the field of ecology so that they will be able to effectively analyze ecological problems by understanding the nature of problems at all three main levels of ecological research - individuals and populations, community ecology and ecosystem ecology. The Ecology Doctoral Program provides an advanced education course for graduates of biological and related fields. Participants are trained in conceptual, methodological and technical aspects of relevant ecological disciplines while being encouraged to conduct independent research work and solve scientific problems. The graduate of the study becomes an expert in relevant ecological discipline, capable of independent research activities, with a wide range of applications in research teams of appropriate focus. These assumptions are realistically reflected in the factual fate of existing graduates at universities, academic and departmental research institutes, commercial enterprises, state administration and civil sector organizations, which deal with various aspects of ecological research and applied ecology from nature conservation through reclamation of damaged areas and management of natural resources to global environmental problems at the landscape level and global climate change.
