SP characteristics

SP Management of natural resources focuses on general problems of natural resources, specifically those related to the geosphere. Along with basic Earth Science courses (Geology, Mineralogy, Petrology, Geochemistry, Physics of the Earth, etc.), student acquires detailed knowledge on various natural resources bound in the geosphere, pedosphere, hydrosphere, and atmosphere. Specific focus is on mineral resources, water and groundwater resources, climate, and soil. During the study, student will learn about genesis of natural resources, mutual relationships and interactions within natural and/or human-driven cycles, and on possible utilization of individual resources by humans. Principles of management and protection of the environment (including lithospherical part of the geosphere, landscape, soil, water, climate, and ecosystems) together with sustainable utilisation of natural resources and waste management make important part of acquired knowledge. Student of this SP gains skills in practical aspects of natural resources utilisation including basic legislation.
