SP characteristics
Analytical chemistry is a scientific discipline which develops and applies methods, measuring techniques and strategies for obtaining information on the chemical composition of a defined part of the real world, on the changes of this composition in time and on the spatial distribution of chemical species. It intensely cooperates with the other chemical disciplines and with other important scientific fields, e.g., medicine, pharmacy, forensic studies, or ecology. The study of analytical chemistry obeys the recommendations by the Division of Analytical Chemistry (DAC) of the European Association for Chemical and Molecular Sciences (EuCheMS). It covers mastering of the theoretical background, practical training in the traditional methods of chemical analysis, in modern methods of instrumental analysis and in chemometry, complemented by general information on measuring methodology, on the systems of securing the quality of products, on multidimensional techniques and on continuous monitoring of industrial processes and of processes occurring in living organisms and in the environment.

Graduate profile for the public:
The graduate from the MSc. study of Analytical Chemistry has passed the demanding theoretical and practical training and is capable of independent solving of problems connected with qualitative and quantitative analysis of samples of any material. He/she has mastered the strategy of the process of analysis and is able to propose and realize effectively the solution of given analytical task. He/she is versed in the optimization of analyses, the securing of good quality of analytical results, prepared to work in accredited laboratories fulfilling good laboratory practice. He/she finds professional realization especially in the development, optimization and verification of new analytical procedures, in controlling analytical practice and in carrying out analyses required by the research, industrial and agricultural production and the protection of the environment and human health. The certified degree Chemistry title makes it possible to find a job not only in the Czech Republic, but in the whole of Europe.
