SP characteristics

Macromolecular chemistry has been established as special scientific discipline since 30s of the 20th century and its aim is to study natural and artificial polymers and their systems from the point of view of synthesis, structure, characterization, behavior and utilization. Due to high-molecular character of polymers and their nonuniformity, macromolecular chemistry use unique metodology and instrumentation that are not used in other disciplines. The study program Macromolecular Chemistry has long tradition at Faculty of Science of Charles University. The study field Macromolecular Chemistry is focused on trainnig of experts educated both in a broad field of the macromolecular chemistry and in related fields such as physical chemistry, organic chemistry, materials chemistry, nanochemistry and medicinal chemistry. The Study Program covers all aspects of modern macromolecular chemistry including theory, computer simulations and modeling, experimental techniques and polymer synthesis.

Graduate profile for the public:
The graduate of Macromolecular Chemistry has theoretical as well as experimental knowledge and skills of all branches of chemistry and deep knowledge on the macromolecular science and variety of interdisciplinary relations. The graduate is experienced with all modern approaches of macromolecular chemistry that comprise: theory, computer simulations, advanced experimental techniques and polymer synthesis. The graduate is supposed to find a position in academic as well as industrial research teams dealing with a creation of knew knowledge in the various fields of the material science or medicinal chemistry, farmakology and nanochemistry.
