The study program Laboratory Diagnostics in Health Care focuses on work in medical laboratories. Core disciplines include biochemistry and molecular biology, analytical chemistry, haematology, transfusion, microbiology, immunology and histology. The graduate has acquired basic methodological knowledge in these fields. Thanks to the quality equipment and the content of laboratory practical training, they are able to use modern instruments, which are now an integral part of medical laboratories. Knowledge of other disciplines also allows them to understand the basics of various medical branches, which is essential for possible collaboration with other health care providers and physicians in medical laboratories.

The graduate is a university-trained health care professional capable of pursuing independent work in all types of clinical, transfusion medicine and sanitary service laboratories. He/she masters activities related to sampling, processing, storing and analysing biological samples designated for diagnostic or clinical use. He/she uses biochemical, haematological, immunochemical, toxicological and microbiological methods. The graduate possesses special knowledge in quality control and principles of Good Laboratory Practice. He/she masters laboratory techniques, principles of its functioning, data processing and calibration. He/she is able to use professional literature, knows the rules of health care professional ethics, economy and health safety regulations of laboratory operation.
