SP characteristics

The programme in Bohemistics for Foreigners, the only one of its kind in the Czech Republic, is a programme with a long tradition at Charles University. It has extraordinary significance and a specific position both within the Czech Republic and internationally. It consists of a good balance of the linguistic and literary components. The linguistic component is aimed at expanding the knowledge of the structure of the Czech language and the ways in which it is used and functions in communication, which includes the advanced acquisition of all language levels. The literary component provides a deeper insight into the developmental tendencies of Czech literature and a sufficient repertoire of skills necessary for the understanding of literary texts and their qualitative analysis. The programme is academically oriented. Close cooperation with other departments at the Faculty of Arts provides the programme with leading experts from relevant disciplines.
