      The bachelor's degree program “Sustainability in Marketing and Media Communication” is an interdisciplinary program that combines approaches from communication and media studies and marketing with concepts of sustainable development. A new and unique feature of this program is the implementation of sustainability principles in the fields of marketing and media communication.

      The program will give you not only expertise in communicating sustainability issues, designing and presenting them in the media but also knowledge in intercultural communication strategies and their application in various international work contexts. You can critically evaluate media messages especially in the field of social media and assess the impact of media and marketing campaigns on the environment. And – most importantly – you will be able to apply the principle of sustainability to the communication process itself.

      The curriculum combines four pillars:

      • Pillar 1 Sustainable communication in a global world
      • Pillar 2 Media analysis
      • Pillar 3 Media literacy – media education – sustainable use of media in the digital world
      • Pillar 4 Sustainable media production – sustainable marketing

      In addition to the application form, every applicant needs to provide the following documents:

      a) A copy of a diploma to show at least completed secondary or high school studies or confirmation that ongoing secondary or high school studies will be completed in the current academic year

      b) Motivation letter

      c) Structured CV

      d) Portfolio

      e) A topic or product from the current communications and media landscape that demonstrates a connection between media and sustainability

      f) Document showing the level of English proficiency.

      Ad a) Confirmation of studies may be substituted with a transcript of records, provided that these are from the same academic year as the application.

      Ad b) The motivation letter clearly provides evidence that the applicant is motivated to study in the field of communication, marketing and media studies. The motivation letter also demonstrates that the applicant is familiar with the content of the study program, explains the connection between the program and the applicant's motivation, and finally clarifies how completing the program will benefit the applicant's further academic or professional career. The recommended length of the letter of motivation is approximately 2,000 characters, including spaces.

      Ad c) The structured CV should list personal details, professional experience, education, skills, and abilities. The document should be no longer than 1–2 DIN A4 pages and written in English.

      Ad d) The portfolio demonstrates your previous experience and activities in the field of media and environmental protection or sustainability: extracurricular activities, internships, awards, seminar papers, civic or environmental engagement, work experience, volunteer work, and creative media activities or other relevant achievements and skills.

      If you find it difficult to create a portfolio because you do not yet have much experience in the field of media and sustainability, you can write an essay instead in which you express your views on sustainability in international contexts, in media, marketing, or communication.

      Ad e)  Any topic or product from the current communications and media landscape that combines media and sustainability. This could be a picture, an advertisement, or a flyer from an event, an organization, or a company, but also a short article about a campaign or the development of new technologies, a conference program, etc.

      It is important that you add a written explanation to the topic or product in which you critically describe it in terms of the relation between media and sustainability. Please also indicate what you find particularly noteworthy about this object. The recommended length of the explanation is between 3,000 and 4,000 characters.

      Ad f) Applicants should provide a certificate from one of the following standardized tests:

      • IELTS Academic - the minimum required overall band score of 6.5, with a band score of 6.0 or above in all four components;

      • TOEFL Internet-Based Test (iBT) & TOEFL iBT Home Edition - the minimum required overall score of 83, with a minimum score of 20 in the four sections;

      • Cambridge C1 Advanced (former CAE) or C2 Proficiency (former CPE) receiving a certificate;

      • PTE Academic test - the minimum required score above 56;

      • Duolingo English Test (DET) - the minimum required overall score of 120, with a subscore of 105 or above in all four components.

      A standardized English test is not required from applicants who:

      • have studied in English at the secondary school level for at least two years;

      • have studied in English at the university level for at least one year in a full degree program.

      When a score from an English-language test is not presented, the applicants should provide a confirmation of their use of English during their prior studies to support their claim. The confirmation should contain the information that the study program was conducted in English as a language of study. A diploma supplement or transcript containing this information can also be accepted.

      All documents that are not originally in Czech, Slovak, or English must be officially translated into English, Czech or Slovak language by a certified translator. A sworn translation is not required for the application itself.  Only complete applications will be considered. Personal data will be used exclusively to organize the admission process and course enrollments.

      Assessment

      The admissions committee will assess applicants on the basis of the submitted documents. Firstly, the documents proving English proficiency are examined for the level required for the study. Only those applications that fulfill the requirements for English proficiency are assessed further by the admissions committee and given a ranking from 0 - 100 points. The following criteria will be evaluated: (i) motivation letter (0-30), (ii) structured CV (0-10), (iii) extracurricular activities – portfolio (0-30), (iv) reflection on a media topic or product (0-30).
