      International Economic and Political Studies (IEPS) is a postgraduate degree, taught exclusively in English, modelled on the Oxford-style PPE interdisciplinary degrees combining study of economics (including finance), politics (including international relations) and philosophy (including ethics and argumentation skills). The growing popularity of the PPE-family degrees is due to the spectacular success of its graduates in the corporate sector, politics, state administration, journalism, NGOs and other high-end areas of the labour market across the world. With such leadership positions in mind, IEPS aims at developing practical skills underpinned by sound theory that is necessary for analysis of complex problems, creative problem-solving and management of diverse international groups of people, which in turn presupposes convincing argumentation, persuasion and communication skills, combined with ethical corporate social responsibility for the globalizing world, which we all share.

      • TOEFL Internet-Based Test (iBT) & TOEFL iBT Home Edition - the minimum required overall score of 83, with a minimum scaled score in the four sections: reading 19, writing 24, listening 20, speaking 20;

      All documents which are not originally in Czech, Slovak or English must be officially translated into English.

      The admissions committee will assess applicants for study on the basis of the documents submitted and give them a ranking 0-100 points. The structure of points is as follows: the academic prestige of the university attended by the applicant (0-30); the grade points according to the sent transcript and assessing how well the applicant is prepared to meet the coursework requirements of IEPS (0-30); the proficiency in English (0-20); other reasons for admission, such as research experience, international mobility, community service, special competencies (0-20). The point limit for accepting applicants is set by the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University.

      Although a background in mathematics is not formally required for admission, it is a significant advantage for IEPS applicants to have an aptitude for maths and statistics, especially for those students who wish to specialise in economics and finance. Applicants with insufficient English may be admitted on an exceptional basis only.
