The entrance procedure must be undergone by each applicant wishing to be admitted for studies. The entrance examination is held in the form of interview before a board and it checks the student’s capacity for scientific work in the given field.

The board evaluates:
(1) Quality of the thesis project and quality of presentation – the student shall submit a draft abstract: hypothesis and plan of solution of the project. Both the presentation and response to board members’ questions are evaluated.
(2) Previous professional/scientific activity – previous activities will be scored, particularly (but not only) those that are related to the project; publishing and grant activities are scored above all.
(3) The student’s knowledge and insight into the issues of the field, considering the topic of the project – the student must prove his/her knowledge of the recent scientific issues in the field and in the area of the project in particular, he/she must be able to critically assess scientific hypotheses. The examining board may also consider the results of his/her previous studies.

The highest score that can be achieved by a student is 100 points. The total score is set by the admission board through its qualified consensual consideration. The minimum score the applicant must achieve to be admitted is 50 points. The standing of the applicants will be set according to the resulting number of points.

Podmínkou přijetí ke studiu v doktorském studijním programu je řádné ukončení studia v magisterském studijním programu.

The absolvent received appropriate theoretical grounding and practical skills for demanding scientific work in basic research at universities and research institutions. He/she is also qualified for teaching positions in selected biological and biomedical branches of universities and other institutions of higher education and for research and development type of work at various institutions of applied research. His/her professional qualification is directed primarily to parasitology and related fields of biology and biomedicine. The absolved curriculum provided deeper insight into the biology of parasites and their interactions with hosts and vectors at organismal, cellular and molecular levels. Practical experience with current methods of biological research increases his/her versatility for work in different branches of life sciences.
