The entrance procedure must be undergone by each applicant. The entrance examination is held in the form of interview before a board and it checks the student’s capacity for scientific work in the given field and his/her capacity to complete the studies. The board evaluates:
(1) Quality of the topic and project of the dissertation thesis. Here, above all, the quality and elaborateness of the draft abstract and practicability of the time schedule, hypothesis and objectives, the potential to publish the results in professional scientific periodicals, including journals with IF, adequate size of the cohort under consideration, ethical acceptability.
Maximum score for the whole item – 40 points
(2) Previous professional and scientific activity. Above all, previous professional and scientific activities in the field will be scored – with 20 points for publication in a journal with IF as the first or corresponding author, or 10 points for a co-author, with 5 points for publication in a reviewed journal or presentation in a Student Scientific Conference or another conference. Only the item with the highest scores will be taken into consideration.

(3) Relation of the topic to the Supervising Tutor’s orientation and his/her research projects. The accord of the proposed topic with the Supervising Tutor’s research orientation must be clear. Solution of grant projects or other research projects by the Supervising Tutor – 20 points, without such projects – 10 points. Only the item with the higher number points will be considered in the score.

(4) Planned co-operation with other research institutions. Home – 5 points, abroad – 10 points. Only the item with the higher number points will be considered in the score.

(5) The way of presentation of the project by the applicant and his/her response to board members’ questions. Presentation of the project 0-10 points, quality of response 0-10 points.

Each member of the board will note the scores for each item as well as the particular applicant’s total score. Subsequently, the scores from all board members will be calculated. The standing of the applicants will be set according to the resulting number of points.

The doctoral (Ph.D.) degree program entitled "Imaging Methods in Medicine" covers various qualitative and quantitative methods of image analysis in biology and medicine. Research and the development of new imaging techniques and procedures, as well as the analysis, processing and interpretation of data are also emphasized. The degree program is closely related to molecular biology, molecular imaging, radiology, nuclear medicine, pathology and many other fundamental and clinical fields of biomedicine. The standard length of study is three (3) years.
