In this course students take part in a “workshop” in biblical exegesis and the basic principles of biblical theology
under the supervision of the teacher. The course is offered every year, with each year’s specific emphasis (themes and texts) chosen to tie in with the teacher’s current or recently completed projects, which is expressed in the subtitle for the course in the given academic year. Through a combination of lectures and practical work, students gradually acquire a knowledge of the basic principles and approaches of specialist work in Biblical Studies – analysis of Old Testament texts in their literary, cultural, and historical context, various methods for their interpretation, and a critical evaluation of the interpretative traditions in their pluralistic and historically contextual form. Students are expected to prepare regularly the texts for each lesson, to study the recommended literature, and to elaborate analyses, interpretations, and ideas for interpreting the texts. Passing the course is conditional on the acceptance of a paper written by the student (5-8 standard pages) on one of the themes or texts covered during the semester. Poslední úprava: Vančová Eliška, Mgr. (29.05.2020)
