Kurz si klade za cíl podat nástin historie a povahy vybraných postkoloniálních literatur v anglickém jazyce za předpokladu aktivní účasti studentů na tomto procesu. Literatury jsou představeny obecně a skrze analýzu jednotlivých děl ve filosofickém, společenském, kulturním, historickém kontextu.

The course will focus on a range of Anglophone literatures, recently referred to as postcolonial literatures (New Zealand, Indian, Nigerian, South African, Anglophone Caribbean, and Australian literatures). Both the lectures and seminars familiarise the students with key literary texts of these literatures as well as theoretical assumptions of postcolonial criticism informed by postmodern and poststructuralist strategies. The major focus of the seminars will be an interpretation of primary sources selected from a wide geographical spectrum of contemporary Anglophone literatures from the point of view of postcolonial thought as well as TEFL.

Cíl předmětu
Porozumění kontextům:
Studující získají znalosti o vzniku, vývoji a ústředních aspektech postkoloniální literatury a budou schopni*y ji vnímat v jejích společenských, historických, jazykových a filosofických kontextech.
· Analýza literárních děl:
Studující se naučí provádět detailní analýzu vybraných literárních děl z různých regionů a kultur, včetně Karibiku, Indie, Nigérie, Jižní Afriky, Austrálie, Nového Zélandu, Kanady a Irska.
· Aktivní účast a diskuse:
Kurz se zaměří na aktivní účast studujících v diskusích, což podpoří rozvoj kritického myšlení a schopnost formulovat a argumentovat vlastní názory na literární texty a jejich kontext.
· Porovnání literárních tradic:
Studující budou schopni*y porovnat a kontrastovat prvky různých postkoloniálních literatur, identifikovat společné rysy a specifika jednotlivých regionů.
· Interdisciplinární přístup:
Studující se naučí chápat, jak postkoloniální literatura a její obsah souvisí s jinými disciplínami, jako jsou sociologie, historie, kulturní studie a teorie literatury a rovněž didaktika literatury.
· Vytvoření vlastních výukových aktivit:
Studující budou mít příležitost vypracovat vlastní výukové materiály zaměřené na konkrétní aspekty postkoloniální literatury a prezentovat je v rámci kurzu.

Podmínky zakončení předmětu -
1. Pravidelná a aktivní účast na seminářích (max. 2 absence celkově za semestr)
2.Seminární práce: Odevzdání eseje (požadavky viz. níže): nenaplnění požadavků na eseje: pozdní odevzdání či nedostatečná úroveň studentovi znemožní plnit další požadavek na splnění předmětu, tedy zkoušky)
3.Úspěšné složení ústní zkoušky (max. 3 pokusy, do výsledné známky je započítána i jazyková a formulační úroveň projevu při zkoušce)
Požadavky na esej v ČJ: Studenti si vyberou minimálně jeden z „povinně-volitelných“ románů a v rámci své seminární práce (argumentativní eseje), která je podmínkou k získání zápočtu, jej nahlédnou z hlediska poznatků získaných v kurzu Postkoloniální literatury. Tedy např. s převahou nebo ve všech možných kombinacích perspektiv postkoloniální teorie/ historicky-sociálního/ osobního/ didaktického. Je možné si rovněž vybrat jiný román od postkoloniálního autora/ky píšící/ho anglicky, než je uvedeno na seznamu. Ten je ale nutné dopředu (do 17.12. 2024) konzultovat s vyučující. Datum odevzdání eseje je 15.1. 2025 odevzdáním vytištěné eseje ve formátu .doc, .docx do Moodlu. Esej může být studujícímu vrácena k přepracování – ten/ta ji má nárok přepracovat a maximálně jednou znova odevzdat.
Formální požadavky: Argumentativní esej by měla čítat min. 1,000 a max. 1,200 slov (včetně citací) a odpovídat citačnímu stylu MLA (https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/research_and_citation/mla_style/mla_formatting_and_style_guide/mla_works_cited_electronic_sources.html).
Plagiáty nebudou tolerovány a případné odhalení povede k neudělení zápočtu.
Požadavky ke zkoušce:
1. Podmínkou nutnou k připuštění ke zkoušce je zápočet (odevzdání a uznání eseje (seminární práce). Esej je možné celkově odevzdat maximálně dvakrát (po jednom vrácení eseje k přepracování).
2. Úspěšné splnění ústní zkoušky - celkově mají studenti k dispozici tři pokusy. Ústní zkouška se skládá ze tří částí: 1) literárně historické (student si losuje jedno z níže uvedených témat, 10-15 minut) a 2) interpretační, jež je založena na analýze literárního textu z perspektivy postkoloniální teorie/TEFL/ literární historie (student si losuje jeden z textů probíraných v seminářích – seznam viz níže, texty jsou k dispozici v Moodlu kurzu, 5-10 minut). Feedback k eseji: (5 minut).
3. Součástí celkového hodnocení je i jazyková a formulační úroveň.

• 2nd question (interpretation/analysis): the student chooses a poem, a short story or a novel (from the list of the works related to the topic of the question) from the point of view of a postcolonial studies/literary history/TEFL. Výsledky učení:
Porozumění klíčovým problémům:
Studující budou schopni*y identifikovat a diskutovat o hlavních otázkách týkajících se širokého spektra postkoloniálních literatur, včetně jejich historických, sociálních a kulturních aspektů.
Analýza témat:
Studující prokáží schopnost rozpoznat a analyzovat dominantní a specifické tematické prvky v jednotlivých postkoloniálních literaturách, jako jsou identita, kolonialismus, imperialismus, či kulturní dominance.
Kontextualizace textů:
Studující budou schopni*y vztáhnout vybrané literární texty k jejich kulturním a společenským kontextům, čímž prohloubí své porozumění významu a funkcím těchto děl v rámci daných společností.
Interkulturní kompetence:
Studující získají znalosti o pojmu interkulturní komunikativní kompetence a budou schopni*y posoudit, jak tento koncept ovlivňuje interpretaci postkoloniálních textů a jejich využití ve vzdělávacím prostředí.
Aplikace teoretických konceptů:
Studující se naučí aplikovat teoretické koncepty a rámce spojené s postkoloniální literaturou na konkrétní literární díla, což prohloubí jejich analytické dovednosti.
Příprava na pedagogickou praxi:
Studující budou schopni rozvíjet a implementovat výukové strategie, které integrují postkoloniální texty do vzdělávacího procesu, s důrazem na podporu kritického myšlení a interkulturního dialogu.
Tyto výsledky učení by měly reflektovat cíle kurzu a poskytnout studujícím jasný rámec pro jejich akademický a profesní rozvoj v oblasti postkoloniální literatury.
