The course ends with a written test and an oral exam. A student has to submit all of the assignments from tutorials.

The course covers the following topics:
- Nuptiality. Concepts, definitions, basic indicators, rates of 1st and 2nd kind
- Divorces. Divorce rate. Legislation. The crude divorce rate.
- Births and fertility. Concepts (fertility, childlessness, infertility), the definition of live and stillbirths and abortion, Coale index.
- Female fertility. Marital status, marital fertility rates by age, parity
- Cohort analysis of fertility and differential fertility. Education, occupation, religion, regional differences.
- Abortion and abortion rate. Definitions/types of abortion, indicators, data sources, contraceptive use.
- Reproduction. Gross and net reproduction rates, Lotka (internal) growth rate.
- Stationary and stable population models.
