This course is an introduction to the modern politics and government of Central and Eastern Europe in the 20th century and after the fall of communism in 1989. You will not only learn about the most important and contemporary political events, but you will also learn to apply basic concepts of comparative politics to Central and East European political practice.

Upon successful completion of this course, student should be able to:

1)     understand the fundamentals of politics and government in East-Central Europe,

2)     identify the main turning points in the development of politics and government in the 20^th century and present,

3)     evaluate particularities of politics and government in the region.

The exam will take place remotely in the summer semester of the academic year 2022/2023, via a moodle2 (https://dl2.cuni.cz). The exam will consist of a test ("open questions"). Moodle will be open to complete the test for 1 hour. Students can use the assigned literature ("open book test") while completing the tests. Exam dates will be opened in the SIS by default. Students will be informed about any changes by e-mail.
