Climate change and the transition to a low-carbon economy is undoubtedly the most important economic issue facing the world today. This course seeks to offer a comparative perspective on climate change policies, as policy responses vary widely from country to country. It will critically examine the regional challenges of decarbonization. Different countries/regions will serve as concrete case studies for thinking about the promises and pitfalls of policymaking trajectories.
This course integrates lectures from renowned experts in specific areas of climate policy with interactive seminar sessions, where students will participate in group discussions, debates, and collaborative assignments. Through these activities, students will have the opportunity to apply theoretical concepts to real-world scenarios, engage with different perspectives, and develop a deeper understanding of the regional challenges and opportunities associated with climate change mitigation and adaptation. By combining expert knowledge with active student involvement, the course encourages dynamic learning and equips students with the skills to critically analyze climate policies, contribute thoughtfully to public discourse, and collaborate effectively in the pursuit of sustainable solutions.
