Course leader: Prof. Martin Potůček, PhD. http://www.martinpotucek.cz Course website: http://www.martinpotucek.cz (slot Courses/Public Policy) Consultations to be booked electronically at http://terms.fsv.cuni.cz Goals of instruction: The course aims to introduce students to the study of public policy as a discipline, within a broader context of the development of contemporary societies; to exemplify public policy’s practical application and the ways public policy as a scientific discipline attempts to apprehend social problems and devise solutions thereof (with special attention paid to pension reforms); to do so by defining the key terms, theories and approaches of public policy; and to engage students in critical thinking and studying, systematic work with scholarly literature. The submission deadline for answers to questions is the day of the respective lecture (e.g., October 16 will be the deadline term for answering questions to lecture #2, published in October 2). Printed answers can be submitted directly to the course leader in the day of the lecture in question, or e-mailed to him (potucek@fsv.cuni.cz). Answers to each question (up to 2,000 characters, spaces included) will be evaluated by 0 to 2 points. Notes: 1. You may decide to participate in seminars of the twin course JSM518 open for Masters’ degree students, which will for sure deepen your understanding of the discipline.
