Cílem kurzu je sledovat a analyzovat události v domácí a zahraniční politice USA v reálném čase. Při pohledu na důležité otázky, které utvářejí veřejnou diskusi v USA, bude kurz poskytovat pohled na otázky, které jsou zásadní pro pochopení současné americké politiky. Monitorování dynamiky současné politiky vyžaduje důkladné čtení zdrojů informací v reálném čase, jako jsou on-line časopisy, noviny a / nebo projevy politiků. Abychom použili výraz Timothy Gartona Ashe, kurs poskytne studentům obraz o „historii současnosti“ Spojených států při použití analytických nástrojů, jako jsou analýzy diskurzu a případové studie. Hodnocení studentů je založeno na škále písmen A-F, která vychází z Opatření děkanky číslo 17/2018 (https://www.fsv.cuni.cz/opatreni-dekanky-c-172018). Hodnocení kurzu zahrnuje test (50 %) a velkou seminární práci (50%). Test i seminární práce musí získat hodnocení minimálně E. 91% a více => A
Test bude vycházet z ověření znalostí z povinných textů a z přednášek. Seminární práce by měla mít minimálně 12 normostran (21 600 znaků). Termín odevzdání: 15.1.2020 na email kozak@fsv.cuni.cz. Práce by měla buď řešit nějakou jasně vymezenou výzkumnou otázku či argumentačně obhajovat nějakou relevantní tezi. Vyvarujte se prací, které jsou pouze popisné.
