Each week, students will be asked to present a story that caught their attention the past week and give their thoughts on how that was covered. Aside from this, each week will focus on one particular media-related topic for which a chapter of a selected book, few articles, or a short video will be required to read or watch. Each class will start with a 20-minute lecture that will then kick off the discussion. The seminar will involve interactive activities, groupwork, mock debates, mock interviews, mock editorial meetings and mock political cabinet meetings. During the duration of the course, students will be required to hand three mini-assignments – first, an original op-ed on the ongoing US election campaign, second, an original speech from the point of view of a selected politician in the middle of a made-up crisis, and three, a short analysis of real media coverage of a selected event. At the end of the course, students will write a test covering all the topics covered during the semester. Poslední úprava: Miessler Jan, Mgr. (30.09.2024)
