Cílem kurzu je popsat koncept české národní identity a národní historie, jak jsou prezentovány v učebnicích pro první stupeň českých základních škol. Chceme identifikovat klíčové aspekty národního sebeobrazu tím, že popíšeme obraz země a jejích obyvatel, který je prezentován v učebnicích dějepisu základních škol, učebnicích vlasti nebo učebnicích jazyků. Zabýváme se základním obsahem a strukturami, základními vzory, které tvoří český národní sebeobraz a vyprávění o národních dějinách.

Studie je založena na lingvistické analýze diskurzu. Naučíme se, jak takovou analýzu provést a jak pomocí jejích výsledků rekonstruovat koncept české národní identity a narativ národních dějin.

The seminar takes place online via google meet.

The course aims to describe the concept of Czech national identity and national history as represented in Czech primary school books. We want to identify key aspects of the Czech national self-image by describing the image of the country and its people, which is taught in elementary school books on history, homeland textbooks, language textbooks, or reading books. We are concerned with recognizing basic content and structures, the basic patterns that constitute the Czech national self-image and the narrative of national history.

The project is based on a linguistic discourse analysis. In class we learn how to do such an analysis and how to use the results of the analysis to reconstruct the concept of Czech national identity and the narrative national history.

Preparation of theoretical texts at home

Presentation of one theoretical text (20% of the final grade)

Active participation in analytical work: Discourse analysis of texts (30% of the final grade)

Summary of results in the form of a short text (2-3 pages) (40% of the final grade)
