A project placement is an independent and delimited period of time during which the majority of the student’s academic activities take place at e.g. an organisation, an administrative body, cultural institution, firm of consultants or public or private company in Denmark or abroad. The purpose of the Individual Project Placement is to provide students in Journalism, Media, and Globalisation with the opportunity to supplement existing courses with practical insight into the working tasks and procedures in an organisation or a company conducting assignments or projects within the general framework of journalism. Thus, the module allows students to test and develop their knowledge, skills, and competences in a relevant job environment. In accordance with the overall purpose of the programme, the project placement focuses on the student’s ability to bridge between academic and practical insights.

As a 10 ECTS course, an Individual Project Placement covers 273 hours of work, the equivalent of 5-6 weeks of work placement in an organisation or company with 8-10 hours per week devoted to supervision and the production of the journalistic product and the project report that constitutes the exam. In order to sign up for an individual project placement, the student must find a project host that can be pre-approved by the programme coordinator and sign a contract with the project host and the programme coordinator. Both project placements in Denmark and abroad can be approved, but must live up to the study requirements and national legislation in terms of working conditions, economic compensation and insurances. In case the student does not pass the exam, the project placement cannot be approved as credit-awarding. Poslední úprava: Lábová Sandra, Mgr., Ph.D. (22.02.2023)
