The exam is intended only for students of the Faculty of Arts, Charles University. It assesses both productive and receptive skills in Italian at the B2 level according to the CEFR.
Exam dates are not listed in the SIS; students must arrange the date individually with Dr. Obstová at [e-mail].

It consists of a written and an oral part.

The written part
- listening comprehension
- reading comprehension
- grammar and lexical test
- writing

Oral part
- analysis of the results of the written part
- a conversation in Italian on a topic close to the academic environment
- structured presentation and discussion of a chosen professional text
- translation of selected extracts


The scope of the professional text is 20 standard pages.
The text must be related to the field of study and contain all the elements of a professional work (citation and annotation, etc.). For all types of examination, it is recommended that the suitability of the text be discussed in advance with the teacher of the language concerned. The text must be written by a native speaker or published by a reputable foreign publishing house (e.g. not anonymous websites, wikipedia, etc.) and must not be a translation from another language. The text may also be composed of two sources, and photocopies must be accompanied by a title page with the names of the authors and bibliographical information (editor, publisher, year of publication). It must not contain any notes or entries of the student.

The oral part takes place on the same day or, by agreement with the teacher, on the following days (within a week or so).

Požadavky ke zkoušce

Zkouška se skládá se z písemné a ústní části.

Písemná část

Hodnocení písemné části:

Dolní hranice pro postup k ústní části je 60% úspěšně splněného testu. V každé části textu je nutné získat minimálně 50% bodů, jinak je písemná část hodnocena jako nesplněná.

Ústní část
- rozbor výsledku písemné práce
- rozhovor v italském jazyce na téma blízké akademickému prostředí
- strukturovaná prezentace zvoleného odborného textu a diskuse nad ním
- překlad vybraných úryvků

Rozsah zvoleného odborného textu 20 normostran.

Kritéria pro výběr textu: 

Text se musí vztahovat ke studovanému oboru a obsahovat všechny náležitosti odborné práce (citační a poznámkový aparát atd.). U všech typů zkoušky doporučujeme vhodnost textu předem zkonzultovat s vyučujícím příslušného jazyka. Text musí pocházet od rodilého mluvčího, příp. být vydán v renomovaném zahraničním nakladatelství (nikoli např. anonymní internetové stránky, wikipedie apod.), nesmí být překladem z jiného jazyka. Text může být složen i ze dvou zdrojů, u fotokopií je třeba přiložit i titulní list se jmény autorů a bibliografickými údaji (editor, nakladatel, rok vydání). Nesmí obsahovat žádné vlastní poznámky či vpisky.

Ústní část probíhá ve stejný den jak část písemná nebo po dohodě s vyučující v následujících dnech (cca do týdne).

Evaluation of the Written Part

The minimum requirement to proceed to the oral part is 60% of the total score. Additionally, students must achieve at least 50% in each section; otherwise, the written part is considered failed.

Criteria for Text Selection

The text must be relevant to the student’s field of study and meet all the formal requirements of an academic work (e.g., citation and footnote apparatus). For all exam types, it is recommended to consult the suitability of the text in advance with the respective language instructor.

The text must:

• Be written by a native speaker or published by a renowned international publisher (not from anonymous online sources, Wikipedia, etc.).
• Not be a translation from another language.
• Be composed of up to two sources if necessary. In the case of photocopies, the title page with author names and bibliographic details (editor, publisher, year of publication) must be included.
• Be free of personal notes or annotations.

Oral Exam Scheduling

The oral part takes place on the same day as the written part or, by agreement with the examiner, within the following week.
