This course offers an introduction to central debates in contemporary philosophy. The course structure consists of weekly lectures, each focusing on a different key concept in philosophy (truth, knowledge, science, human nature, free will, justice, etc.), providing an overview of the most significant philosophical theories related to that concept. The importance of critical thinking about these concepts will be highlighted by demonstrating their relevance to ongoing debates in contemporary society, including discussions about post-truth, fake news, conspiracy theories, the advent of AI, and political polarization. This course is open to students with no background in philosophy.
