We will subsequently explore specific schools of Chinese Buddhism (especially, but not exclusive to, Chan, Pure Land, and Tibetan Buddhism), the relationship between Buddhism and popular culture, the role of Buddhism in popular religion, the impact of the Chinese government, and the growth of new "secular" Buddhist movements such as the Buddhist Youth Movement.
