Současná filosofie: Myšlení, médium, kontejner
Od Bionovy teorie myšlení k filosofii nových médií
Anotace
Technika, paměť, kosmotechnika - Stieglerova exteriorizace a pharmakon, Haylesova distribuovaná kognice, Huiho kosmotechnika a technodiverzita.

Contemporary Philosophy: Thought, Medium, Container
From Bion’s Theory of Thinking to the Philosophy of New Media
Abstract
The course explores the questions of what thinking is and where it takes place. It is based on an assumption that unites otherwise disparate thinkers: that thinking is not a given, but must first be created, and that it never forms on its own within an isolated mind, but always within something that carries it. This “something” is a container: for Wilfred Bion, whose theory of thinking serves as the course’s entry point, it is a psychological relationship that makes it possible to process a thought in the first place. From there, the course traces how the concept of the container migrates—from the psyche to the sphere, the system, technology, distributed cognition, and finally to the machine and the production of subjectivity.
Instead of interpreting a single author, the course poses a single question, examined through ten perspectives in contemporary philosophy and thought: from Bion and Sloterdijk through Bateson, Stiegler, Hayles, and Hui to Han, Parisi, and Guattari. It is designed to be interdisciplinary: it connects psychoanalysis, the philosophy of technology, media theory, and cognitive science. The overarching theoretical framework is “general ecology” (Erich Hörl)—that is, an attempt to understand thought not as something confined to the mind, but as a process spread across the biological, technical, and social realms.
Main topics:
Thinking as a problem—Bion’s theory of thinking: alpha/beta functions, the container/contained relationship, thinking as that which must evolve in order to process experience.
Containment as a form of being and as a technique—Sloterdijk’s spheres and anthropotechnics, media as the means through which a person is first and foremost created.
Ecology of the Mind—Bateson and “the difference that makes a difference,” the mind extending beyond the skin, immunity, the holobiont, and the living envelope (Clarke).
Technology, Memory, Cosmotechnology—Stiegler’s exteriorization and pharmakon, Hayles’s distributed cognition, Hui’s cosmotechnology and technodiversity.
The psyche under pressure and the question of the machine—Han’s diagnosis of burnout, Parisi and computation as a mode of thought, Guattari’s three ecologies and the production of subjectivity.
Ongoing question: digest or process? That is, the tension between thinking as the affective metabolization of experience and thinking as a function realizable in any substrate.
