      The fee is to be paid electronically via a bank transfer or by a payment card to the account of the Faculty at KB Praha 2, bank account number 0000868986130237/0100. The VS identifier and SS identifier for payment via a bank transfer will be sent to the applicant by email to their email address provided in the application. The fee must be paid no later than on the third day after the expiration of the period for the filing of the application for study, i.e. 30 April 2026. If the applicant fails to pay the fee within said period, it applies that they have withdrawn their application for study. The fee is non-refundable.

      The Specialised Law Studies is an innovative master's program taught in English, designed to provide education in specific legal area with a focus on the evolving global context. The program uniquely emphasizes a European perspective, offering students a deep understanding of the legal challenges that arise in an international, particularly European, environment. 

      The specialisation in Human Rights Law provides comprehensive knowledge of the protection and enforcement of human rights on both national and international levels including judicial protection, implementation of international treaties and contemporary challenges such as migration, minority rights and freedom of expression.

      1.      The admission examination consists of two rounds and is conducted in the English language.  

      2.      In the first round, which takes place between 4 May and 7 May2026, the examination board will assess the documents duly submitted by applicants for study by the set deadline; the documents to be submitted are listed in Part III hereof.

      3.      The examination board will, in particular, assess the applicant’s interest in a course with a chosen specialisation based on a motivation letter presented, as well as based on the applicant’s previous academic results.

      4.      The maximum number of points which an applicant can achieve in the first round of the admission examination is 40, and they are divided as follows:

      a.       resumé: a maximum of 10 points

      b.      transcript of academic results: a maximum of 10 points

      c.       motivation letter: a maximum of 20 points

       

      5.      In order to proceed into the second round of the examination, an applicant must achieve a total of at least 25 points in the above-listed categories (a – c).

      6.      In the second round of the examination, which is held between 18 May and 21 May 2026, the examination board will verify and asses, in an interview with the applicant, the facts presented in the submitted documents, as well as the applicant’s motivation, interest in the field, and knowledge. If the applicant cannot be physically present at the interview, they will be permitted to do it remotely via MSTeams or another suitable communication platform.

      7.      The substitute term for the second round will take place between 1 June and 4 June 2026.

      8.      The oral part of the admission examination in English aims to assess the following: 

      ·         motivation for study; and

      ·         professional knowledge in the following way: the applicant will draw two questions from two sets of questions, one question from each set. The examination board will have a discussion with the applicant relating to the questions drawn. 

      o   SET  1 – general professional knowledge

      1.      Basics of constitutional law (e.g. the organisation of the legislative power – legislative process, separation of powers).

      2.      The process and principles of European integration (e.g. EU institutions, supremacy of EU law).

      3.      Key differences between the civil law system and the common law system.

      4.      Relationship between national law and international law.

      5.      General principles of private law and public law.

      o        SET  2 – detailed professional knowledge

      1.      Origin, development and classification of human rights (e.g. civil, political, economic and social rights).

      2.      Key international documents relating to human rights (e.g. the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, the European Convention on Human Rights).

      3.      Institutions and mechanisms for the protection of human rights (bodies of the United Nations, local courts).

      4.      Theory and philosophy of human rights.

      5.      Human Rights in the field of migration (refugee status, asylum)

      ·         knowledge of professional legal terminology in English, and

      ·         ability to engage in a professional discourse in English.

      9.      In each of the two selected areas, the applicant’s performance is assessed on a points basis (following the table below). The maximum possible number of points is 40 (20 for each question drawn). Only an applicant who obtains a minimum of 25 points in total for both questions discussed in the second round can be admitted to study.

      10.  Only an applicant who obtains at least 50 points in total for both rounds will be admitted to study.

      11.  Within 30 days of the verification of the satisfaction of the requirements for admission to study, the Dean will issue a decision on the admission or non-admission to study. The Faculty will deliver the decision to the applicants via a registered letter, to the addressee only, or via ‘datová schránka’ (the official electronic document delivery system), if established and available to the applicant. The decision on admission/non-admission will also be delivered to the applicants via the Study Information System.

      Admission to Master's studies is conditioned by completed secondary education confirmed by a school-leaving certificate. Admission to Post-Bachelor studies (Master's programme) is likewise conditioned by completed education in any type of study programme.

      A graduate of the specialization in "Human Rights Law" acquires a deeper knowledge of the instruments of international and European protection of human rights and at the same time an understanding of the constitutional systems of fundamental rights protection in different states. In addition to the general legal institutes of human rights protection, the programme focuses on selected thematic areas such as asylum law, anti-discrimination law and protection of vulnerable groups. They will be able to apply the acquired knowledge in public administration, in the non-profit sector, in international institutions and in the academic sphere. The specialization emphasizes the interconnection of theoretical knowledge with practical skills, especially when working with the case law of international and national judicial bodies and with professional legal terminology in English.
