The Public history Ph.D. program gives students a wider range of knowledge and skills in historical science and contemporary aspects of historical science and methodological trends which give students important competence in order to present their future scientific work in the community, professional fora, and the public. The application framework of this program leads students towards didactisation of public history. The core aspect of the studies is the dissertation thesis completion which represents an original scientific work based on wide research, further and deeper focus based on literature and terrain work which uses adequate methodological processes, the benefits of didactic principles, and also results of international historiography research. Only graduates of master's degree programs in history, history teaching, and related fields may apply to study the doctoral program in History in Public Space.
The admission procedure consists of two rounds and is the same for both forms of study.

      First round:
In the first round, the admissions committee evaluates the dissertation project, which the applicant submits by the specified deadline, in the specified length and with all the necessary requirements. The recommended length of the project is 10 standard pages. The project must include an analysis of the problem to be addressed in the future dissertation, an analysis of the source base and domestic and foreign professional literature, an outline of the methodological starting points and procedures offered for researching the given problem, the formulation of hypotheses and objectives of the dissertation, including its presentation in a public space, and finally, a realistic timetable for the completion of the dissertation.

      First-round evaluation:
In the first round, applicants can earn a maximum of 5 points; to advance to the second round, they must earn at least 4 points. Applicants who receive fewer than 4 points will not be accepted.

      Second round:
In the second round, applicants will briefly present their project and answer questions from the admissions committee. In the ensuing discussion, applicants must demonstrate a basic knowledge of historical research methodology, an understanding of current historical research, an interest in academic work, and the prerequisites for it; here, the committee evaluates in particular any publications and similar activities.

Evaluation in the second round, overall evaluation:
In the second round, applicants can again earn up to 5 points. The total number of points for both rounds is 10 points. The minimum number of points required for admission to individual study programs is determined by the dean based on the results of the entrance examinations, taking into account the estimated number of applicants to be admitted and the economic and capacity possibilities of the faculty. The minimum number of points required to pass the entrance examination is set at 7 points (the sum of points from the first and second rounds of the admission procedure).

      Admission decision:
Based on the results of the admission procedure, the admissions committee recommends the admission of applicants. The final decision is made by the dean of the faculty based on the results of the admission procedure, taking into account the specified expected number of admitted applicants and the economic and capacity possibilities of the faculty.
