The study programme Information and Communication Technology for Teacher Education provides comprehensive bachelor education oriented not only on disciplines that are related to teachers’ professional training – pedagogy, psychology, general didactics, and special didactics, but also on the field of information and communication technology, especially on informatics (basics), algorithmization and programming, processing of data and information with the means of information and communication technology, development of web applications, operation systems and their administration, computer networks and their creation and operation, design and realisation of database and information systems, computer graphics, and creation of multimedia applications. The aim of the study programme also takes into account the fact that the anticipated priority of the graduate is to continue with the successive magister programme Teacher Education of Information and Communication Technology for Lower and Upper Secondary Schools. As a result, there will be an effort to support the students’ relation towards educational institutions during the studies. This will be facilitated via teaching practices, professional excursions, or by producing a bachelor thesis aimed at education. Even if the graduates do not choose to continue with magister studies, they are ready to work with children and juveniles in the field of afterschool activities. Also, they are prepared for professions and functions in companies or institutions that deal in data and information processing, commerce, or in providing services in information and communication technology.

The concept of the programme comes from the premise that number of graduates may start their work practice right after their graduation, whilst others may continue with their follow-up master study of pedagogy. Therefore, this programmes’ curriculum contains both subjects that allow the first group to acquire knowledge and skills enabling them to find their use as educators and leisure-time teachers, as well as subjects that lay foundation for the other group’s follow-up master studies. In the course of the bachelor study teamwork skills are developed, at the same time specific professional traits of character are shaped via the contents as well as applied methods, in particular self-regulation, healthy self-confidence, self-knowledge and empathy. The important part of the study programme is practice. Students are progressively familiarized with real conditions of basic professions they are prepared for in the course of their studies (both bachelor and master) using collective in-class observations. As part of their practice students sit in classes of various schools, educational facilities, learn how to analyse and evaluate internal and external factors which influence their activities. One of the most substantial features of the bachelor study programme is the focus on active, individual and team activities of students. The focus in the study programme is also on systematic work with Czech and international scholarly texts and on regularly checked reading lists of literature on education and social sciences. The teaching practice enables students the opportunity to experience various school and out-of-school facilities and other facilities which provide social services.
