      The program is carried out without any specialization.

      The given program is focused on the socioeconomic transformation of society, its conditionality, developmental trajectories and its spatial structure. Moreover, special attention is paid to impacts on organization of society, qualitative changes and relationship to natural environment. The research is made at various regional-hierarchical levels. There are main thematic areas like: population development and settlement system, regional socioeconomic development and policy, social and cultural climate, or, landscape.

      The entrance examination is a one-round interview that focuses on professional knowledge, previous scientific and research activities and motivation to study the chosen doctoral programme.
      The candidate prepares in advance in written form and attaches to the application form (in a maximum of 5,000 characters), and then makes an oral presentation (an approximately 10 minutes) during the entrance examination:
      a) summary of previous scientific activities
      b) brief presentation of the doctoral project
      The committee assesses the candidate’s overall motivation, their language abilities, previous scientific results, quality and feasibility of the doctoral project.

      The applicant must demonstrate scientific expertise and capability of independent scientific work.

      The examination is graded with a maximum of 100 points. In order to be admitted to part-time (‚combined‘) study form, the applicant must obtain the minimum number of points required for passing the entrance examination, which is the same as the minimum number of points required for admission.
      The minimum number of points required for passing the entrance examination for full-time as well as part-time study form is set to 50 points.

      The graduate is well-prepared for creative scientific work, both as a member of a team and individually. S/he is able to analyze individual components of a socioeconomic environment and to assess in all-embracing way the development of its spatial differentiation, as well as interactions between social (socioeconomic and sociocultural systems) and natural environment, also via applying GIS. The graduate is capable to design mutually interconnected set of measures to support regional development at all regional-geographic levels. S/he can make use of her/his knowledge in academic, research, governmental and business spheres. More specifically, s/he can be successfully involved in a public administration, consultancy, project activities, e.g. in regional development areas, urban and population mobility issues - in Czechia and the EU.
